Despite our significant court victory on Bills 27 and 28 last April, the government still refuses to restore the learning conditions that were stripped from our collective agreements nearly a decade ago. Without the firm limits in place, the government was able to take the equivalent of $336 million away from public schools every year for a decade. Nearly six months have gone by since this legislation was ruled unconstitutional, yet students are still waiting for the support and resources they need.

In the absence of the firm guarantees in collective agreements and
corresponding funding, conditions for students and teachers have steadily
declined and the system has been robbed of the funding that's desperately
needed.

If those firm collective agreement provisions were in place today, we would
have approximately 3,500 more teachers in the system, teachers helping to
provide our students with the support they need.

  • Hi ChristyClarkFan! Seriously?

I'm not a taxation expert, but I do think taxes should be high to adequately fund public education and health care. I think the balance of taxation, personal vs. corporate, is unfair under our current government.

I can also tell you that 20 years ago, the provincial government spent 26% of its budget on public education but now they spend less than 15%.

I'm a proud teacher and an expert in the classroom. What qualifications make you a "greed" expert?

  • Thanks all!

  • It's not just teacher’s folks: how about health care workers & another 250 occupations experiencing the same. The problem is a lot bigger than one single symptom, join forces & expand focus ?

  • Just when U thought the 'TF couldn't get more lame with its online propaganda, they pull this one out of their hat

  • I'll bet ChristyClarkFan is actually Christy herself! lol Good job Ms BC Teacher!

  • Great job summarizing our current situation! Thank you for putting it so creatively! Love it!

  • So how high should taxes be to pay for your greed?

  • OMG!!! I am so proud to be a teacher!!! NICE JOB, GALS & GUYS!!
