Can you identify anyone? Filmed by Cor Klaasen, this is a wedding in Donnybrook Church, Dublin 4 Ireland. Judging by the clothing and cars, it looks like the mid-1960s. The reception was held in Blessington, and the happy couple flew out of Dublin airport to go on their honeymoon. One or other of the newlyweds could have been working in advertising - perhaps O'Kennedy-Brindley? Can you identify anyone in the film?

  • This is John Paget Bourke, the lady you see first is Margaret Bourke.

  • @jpbourke Superb! Thanks so much! I've made contact with the family through my mum, so a DVD will be winging its way to you soon - nearly fifty years late! I'll be taking this video down soon, as that's been requested by the bride.

Thanks again to everyone for commenting and helping to find the happy couple!

  • Hi seftonwallet -

  • that's my grandparents at 3:54 ! Grandpa Tommy Doyle in the top hat, and Nana Moira Doyle in the red hat (having a sneaky smoke!)

    cool!

  • The red haired groomsman is, I think, John Paget Bourke, former director of Bank of Ireland. His son Jay Bourke is in the restaurant business in Dublin

  • Did you ever find the owners?

  • this is definitely Donnybrook church I lived in Beech hill which is just past the bus garage do not recognise anyone probably from the other side of the tracks

  • Thanks Ben, I found Pappa. Lotte

  • they flew out to a honeymoon abroad! back in the mid-sixties! the couple must have been loaded with money.

  • I think Joan Flynn is the current owner of the Downshire House Hotel in Blessington (which closed a couple of years ago). She might have records going back to 62/63.
