  • The first spin of the engine, was that to prime it? Or did it just not fire up?

  • @imagesilike Not sure, but it seemed to me it just didn't fire up. Kind of like my old truck.

  • It is a shark face that the Flying Tigers 'borrowed' from a RAF squadron from before. Read up a bit before asking or make snap judgements.

  • @kennklick Who in the hell are you making that smart ass comment too? No one is making a snap judgement about anything. Anyone is free to ask any questions they want without a moron like you running off at the mouth. Keep your asinine comments to yourself.

  • @imagesilike

To rise up the oil presure...

  • @jhamilton07 Very interesting. All the different starting procedures of these old engines fascinates me.

  • @imagesilike from what I've read, if the engine doesn't fire after 9 blade passes, the procedure is to abort the attempted start. Ever plane has a different procedures, but radials at least (P-40 not a radial btw) require you to keep cranking but close the fuel. cranking clears the engine of fuel and prevents engine fires.

  • @AussiesnAnzacs Oh i see, my mistake then thanks for the info.

  • @FAZER00432 this 40 has a merlin tho fazer as alisons are hard to get hold of and maintain these days dont belive me go listen t a spit or mustang start up

  • @RIFQI345 It doesn't have a Rolls Royce engine it is a Allison V-1710.

  • @mtefft I'm pretty sure he wanted to test the starter motor before wasting precious fuel priming it.

  • those cannons are de-activated right!
