The groundbreaking S2 has a 30 x 45 mm sensor that is 56 percent larger than full frame and an image processing system that provides twice the speed of comparable medium-format backs.
which is alright since only this year nikon started making their own sensors. Canon hasn't made all of theirs either. The only camera companies I know of that make sensors for themselves are Leaf Digital, and Red cameras. everyone else uses someone's sensor. (except for kodak of course)
the rep says "everything was designed in-house by leica," right after he tells us that kodak came up with their sensor. not a huge thing, but there you go.
costs 27000$
thats cheap

Nikon does not make their own sensors - only helps design them. Even all the way up to the D3X - the sensors are make by Sony.
