Never immerse your Rolex in hot water. The heat causes the small amounts of oil used in the movement to creep away. This sort of thing will hasten the need for a servicing of the watch. Instead use an old toothbrush with warm water to brush away the perspiration salts and oils. Use a product like Dawn dish detergent.

my private watch polisher does the same with my rolex
just kidding, gimme a break im 14!

never submerge your watch in soapy water, soap cleans because it breaks down the surface tension of water.this could allow it to seep into your watch.

@HalflingShireFolk 904L Stainless steel is harder than most brush bristles. It isn't a wire brush he is using. I use a nylon bristled childs tothbrush for mine. Bought for the express purpose of cleaning my watches. It has never seen toothpaste :D!

@AGENTARRA . . . Quite possibly the stupidest Troll ever,

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SONG???

I clean mine by spraying it with Viakal, a stainless steel cleaner, brushing it with a washing up or nail brush and rinse. Do this a couple of times until the rinsing water is clean. Be sure of course, to ensure that the crown is screwed down fully. To clean scratches off the glass, I use Solvol Autosol, a compound chrome cleaner.
