Tempted S1 E10

"Okay..." Victoria flipped herself off of me and stood up, her hands resting on her bare, bony hips. "You've been totally zoned out tonight. What's going on with you?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Nothing," I said, pulling her back down by the hand. But she swatted my hand away and remained standing.
"I've known you for how long Joe? Fifteen years. I know when something is wrong." I scratched the back of my neck nerviously. She was right, on two counts. Our moms have been best friends since I was 7 and she was 4. She's 19 now and she goes to college a few miles away, majoring in psychology. We've never had feelings for one another. It's always been just sex. And we're both totally okay with that. Neither one of us has wanted more, from each other or anyone else for that matter.
She reached over and pulled my shirt over her before piling her hair up on top of her head. I still had my jeans on so I stayed as I was, but scooted over so she could sit beside me. "Just tell me." She said, patting my shoulder lightly.
"That's the thing, Vic. I don't know what's wrong." I responded.
"Is this about Demi?" She asked suddenly.
"What?! Fuck, you and my mother should go for tea and discuss my non existent relationship with one of my best friends." I said, a tad harshly.
"Calm down, Joe. And we have." I raised my eyebrows at her, "Well it was just a topic that was brought into the conversation."
"Oh." I said.
"So it is about Demi."
I thought about Demi for a minute. I expected the first thing to come into my mind to be about all the memories we had together, but instead I found myself thinking back to when we almost hooked up that night she was wasted. She looked so gorgeous. In fact, she always looked gorgeous. She's smart. Well, that's an understatement. She's practically a genius, with her straight A's and witty comebacks. She went through anorexia and came out strong. How she could ever see a flaw in herself, i'll never know. I remember when she told me all about her depression in high school from people making fun of her and the fact that her parents were always abandoning her. She practically lived alone from when she was 13 until graduation. Demi is the strongest person I know and I respect her for that. And lately she's all I think about. I'm not sure why though...it's always been Joe and Demi. Best friends. But now...now something's changed.
"You could say that again." Victoria scoffed.
"Huh?" I asked.
"Of course something's changed." She said.
"What the hell? Did I say that all out loud?" I'm seriously losing it. Why does this always happen to me?
"Yeah..." She looked confused but quickly brushed it off, "I think you need to tell her how you feel."
"But how?" I asked.
"By showing her."
"She has a boyfriend." I said.
"Has that ever stopped you before?"
"No," I laughed, "But this is Demi we're talking about. She wouldn't hurt a fly. She's physically and mentally incapable of harming someone."
"That's true." Victoria smiled but it faded slowly after, "First of all, this thing between us is over. Don't worry, I can find another toy to play with. And don't go around hooking up with girls, behind Demi's back or in front of her. You need to fight for her. Wait if you have to, but don't give up." I nodded, biting my lip nervously.
