Well the tone certainly helps add definition to his playing ... using a more traditional tone (e.g. P-bass with flats) wouldn't sound too great with high-register melodies like you see here. I think it's a great example of what Wals can do tonally.

amazing player, but i dont like the tone, so much highs and lack of lows, almost like a guitar

jonas is also a technicaly amazing player this solo just with the slow melodic sound really shows his skill.
