Tommy Yalmur is interviewed by Stella Simmering on Christmas Day, 1997, at Fish Camp in the suburbs of Darwin, the capital city of the Northern Territory of Australia. In his Burarra language, Tommy complains that homeless Aboriginal people in Darwin have nothing - no toilet, running water or a roof over their heads in the wet season. They are called "itinerants" or "long grassers" and their camps are closed down by the authorities who charge them with trespassing. I was privileged to share Christmas dinner that day, during field work for my PhD thesis. Viewers can read more about Tommy and Fish Camp in my thesis on the internet. Bill Day
