Info:
I just recently found out about FYS, and currently they have become one of my favorite bands. They are the perfect mix of pop punk, with a nice amount of metal influence and groove thrown in for good measure. Also, what really highlights the talent of this band, is how Alan and Dan are able to sing near perfectly live, whilst also playing some fairly complicated riffs at the same time. This video did not take long to make as everything was done in one take, with the missing parts edited out.

NOTE: I'm fairly certain that FYS play most of their songs in D standard. Currently, I dont have a decent guitar capable of playing that tuning (because of floyd rose) so I played Drop D in this video.

Techniques/Tips:
- The hardest part of the song is the Rhythm parts in the verses. These have very specific timings, which I'm not 100% sure I played correctly.
- The verses have both a harmonic bend on the 3rd fret of the A string and a pinch harmonic on the 7th fret of the G string.

Gear:
Guitar: Ibanez RGT42DXFM
- Neck pickup: Dimarzio EVO DP158
- Bridge pickup: Seymour Duncan Dimebag Darrell
Strings: Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky
Tuning: Drop D (DADGBE)
Effects: POD X3
- All patch's: ENGL Powerball tone (Note: FYS actually use Orange amps, but I used the ENGL amp as I think it suited their sound better on the POD)
Video: Pentax Optio 60
Audio Editing: Audacity
Video Editing: Sony Vegas Pro 8

Tabs:
I did 100% of this song by ear. Unfortunately, there aren't any decent tabs on ultimate-guitar.com

  • Not enough palm muting i think. Can't really tell since its too noisy.

  • @DaddyTack18 Ah yes. How I love the assumptions people make. Let me explain the C versus S rule. When a word such as practice/practise is used as a noun, it is spelt with a C. However, when used as a verb, such words are spelt with an S. Don't worry if you have trouble remembering which is which. Just think of advise vs. advice, and there's a simple way to remember what you've just learnt.

  • @Heresathought while he's "practising" guitar...you should work on your spelling

  • Oh, and impressively executed pinchies =D

  • Needs more chug and is rather messy, but hell of a nice try. Keep practising!

  • Very nice cover, and I don't know if it is the distortion, my speakers or the microphone used to record audio, but just turn down the distortion a little bit. At certain points it just seems like all fuzz. All in all a very nice cover though :D

  • hahahaha

you just need to palm it more man.and get that chuginess from the d

  • nice dude! check out are band cover of this amazing song!!!
