My Shahadah

Correc if this is wrong, but to become a muslim all you need to say is the shahada - which is their is ''no god, only allah and Muhammad (peace be upon him) is his messenger''. All these promises is not part of it from my understanding where did the brother get this from.

Is this part of Islam or innovation.

Allah is the one who guides who he wills.

@omerkha Most of the other promises are things that can be found in the Qur'an. Ex... abstain from alcohol, pork and adultery. Others things include charity, 5 pillars, etc.

@abqskinhead abstaining from pork, alcohol, pork aldultry etc are in my view not promises but they are the orders. Allah has ordered us not to do. My point is that, the moment you utter the words, i testify their is no god, only allah and testify that Muhammad peace be upon him is his messenger - soon as you say this, you are muslim alhumdulila. Allah knows best.

@omerkha Yes, I knew what the shahadah is. I also knew that the promises were not apart of the shahadah itself. These were more or less things that a convert or revert should know and comply with as a Muslim. I tried to edit the video to show only the shahadah but had problems. I just uploaded it unedited.

@omerkha the probleme is that christian believe that Jesus is a god, so to islam he have to bear witness that issa (Jesus) is a prophet not god. a muslim have to believe that jesus was just a prophet and not a god, you are right it's not a part of the shahada because it's already include in the first witness (there is no god exept allah) but it's good to mention it.
