Barely out of her teens, Magali joined a women's battalion of the Sandinista rebels and fought the US-funded Contras. Footage of Magali with her comrades became one of the defining images of a revolution driven by young idealists. Twenty five years on, the journalist who filmed Magali returns to Nicaragua to track her down. She finds a country changed beyond recognition, where the proud young rebels of yesterday are haunted by regrets. What happened to their dreams of independence and justice?

OK - let me give you another side to the story, the Contras backed by the United States and the economic block that was put on Nicaragua affected the country immensely - 10 years of Sandinismo was to have a country that could ruled itself, however this freedom came at a cost - remember the slogan, patria libre o morir!

Los Sandinistas are not what they use to be. Los Sandinistas were made up of young men and women fighting for a better future for their country against the cruel American control under Somoza. They were Nicaraguesnces before Sandinistas. Today,what Daniel Ortega represents is just a party who is only interest is to stayin in power..like all of the other political partys in Nicaragua. Nicaraguas hope does not lay in the hands of the goverment but in its people. Children of Mama Nica..like myself

USA use warships on Cuba, Nicaraguay and Venezuel?...haha ...this isn't1980s...Cuba, Nicaraguay and Venezuela need USA for money...thats a fact. The problem is mentality with latin american wealthy and those who get in power, not USA.

Communism is proven failure, in Today's World, theres no way human comfort in computers, cellphones, satellite TV etc...would want communisn.

Want socialism....come to the USA!
