Here's a vid of a new aquarium I got that's cycling. The water is really cloudy right now due to beneficial bacteria levels rising. It should clear up after the tank completes the nitrogen cycle.

All the fish in this tank were housed in a smaller 20 gallon that I disassembled when I got this one. After it finishes cycling I'm going to give the cory cats away to someone I know that wants 'em. The rest of the fish I'll either try to trade in for store credit to my local fish shop, or feed 'em to the big fish ):-).

The fish in the tank are:
3 gold tetras
2 cherry barbs
3 platies
5 corydoras catfish (2 peppered, 2 pandas and 1 longnose spotted)
3 fancy guppes (2 blue cobras and 1 king cobra) which are already breeding in this tank lol
1 plecostomus (he was moved over from the 50 gallon in my other videos)

The song is "Crazy Mary" covered by Pearl Jam live at Benaroya Hall October 22, 2003.

  • can u plz tell me what light are u using do you have T8 or T5. thanks

  • @zoomnokia This tank has 2 T8 flourescent bulbs 15w. The box says "Sun Glo" on it - I think I bought 'em from petsmart.

  • Where did you get your driftwood?

  • @CFDChris237 That's actually a piece of grapevine that I got from Petsmart. I wound up taking it out because I read somewhere that it rots much faster than other types of driftwood, and I didn't want to risk it effecting my water quality. I got a lot of Malaysian driftwood now from a local pet shop called animal jungle.

  • @CFDChris237 edit: The piece on the left is the grapevine, and the piece in the middle is Malaysian.

  • a tip for cycling a tank..

DO NOT USE NICE FISH!!! some fish will have significantly shorter lives if stressed out by using them to cycle a tank. on top of the stress of using them to cycle a tank you have many different species that like different water conditons.. a guppy in non salted water makes it prone to disease. and your pleco would want to rip your lungs out for dosing the salt for the guppies..

PLEASE cycle tanks with FEEDER FISH. they are raised to have a short life.

  • Hi....So is the cloudy in the tank normal? I just started a small tank and It is cloudy too. Not too bad but def not clear. If you could answer my question if you know I would appreciate it since this is the first tank I have. Should I use that tank clear to clear the cloudy water or just let itself work out on it's own? Thanks

  • Now the water cleared up a little and I'm hoping it would continue clearing up eventually with partial water changes. Please help if you have any suggestions. Thanks :)

  • I recently just got a 55 set up. I upgraded from a 20 gallon that had about 30 mollies and some Albino Cories. When I got the 55, I had the mollies in there for about a week with the cloudy water. Eventually, I got rid of the mollies and now I have about 16 African Cichlids, 4 Albino Cories, 3 Mollies and a Janitor fish. It's been 3 weeks since I got the tank and I just did a 50% water change today because the water was too cloudy.

  • @zachbeck2022 ohh.. Mine is already gone :D, Thanks mate.

  • @2010jordanianful it comes and goes it's because i have my tank over stocked some days it's crystal clear others it's so cloudy u can't see the fish and it's 2 inchs infront of the glass but it just got through a really bad bacterial bloom i think i need to get new filter media i have 2 aquaclear 110s on the tank and they work awesome but i haven't changed the media in a month so it's probably due for it soon the media for these are good for 2 months but i think i might change em early

  • @zachbeck2022 I have a 55 too.. and its driving me nuts too !! u posted before 5 months, how much time did it take mate >?

  • try Acurel F25 you can find it online. it will help clear up the tank in a few hours and its safe for your good bacteria.

  • How many fish did you kill from using them to cycle the tank... or did you just blind them or burn their gills? There is something called "fishless" cycling that's more humane. You should school yourself in the process. I feel sorry for your fish.

  • @reyes2448 has the bloom cleared yet mate ?

you could stick a UV sterilizer on your tank it gets rid of bacterial blooms algae blooms and can kill quite alot of free floating parasites
