My father witnessed one guy in his squandron fire up an engine and a rookie ground crewman thought it was an engine fire and started trying to put it out. He also said it is a good idea to have the canopy down when starting an engine upwind.

i was there and its noisy with cartridges but you know u hear the woman say no it failed that was ma mum lol

I've never heard of a cartridge-start turbojet before. There were plenty of cartridge-start gas and diesel engines, though.

did it start, or did they have to use a second cartridge. think I was there and saw the same start attempt but failed to start on the first shot.
