It's quite gruesome, folks. He first de-feathers then devours a large seagull.

  • Ah! OK - makes sense! Well, do you have more of the first section that you could upload? It's not often that you see an eagle with a seagull!

  • I do have more of the first section. I have more of all the sections! The male of these mates does eat seagulls on occasion, I know it's rare. I think the whole capture is quite rare, considering it's in the wild, yet in the middle of a city and all!

I'm not going to upload more of this clip for now . .. the goal is to go out and get more footage, as much as possible.

  • Ahhh... faIr enough! Well, if you *do* decide to post more of it, let me know - I find it interesting!

I'm a nature videographer too, and I know all about getting as much as possible! I think over the course of 10 years, I've taped over 250+ hours of squirrel footage, and at least 50 hours of gull footage... and I'm still taping today - some people say they all look alike, but I don't!

  • Hey thanks! I will eventually be distributing a more full version - of everything. Looking for a sponsor of some kind to help fund me.

I work with a biologist and he always says, "How do you KNOW it's one of the mates from the Jericho nest? Does it have a tag? One eagle looks pretty much like another." But when you follow one pair for three years and stare closely at their faces through a zoom lens you realize . . . they don't necessarily look alike at all!

  • well, because I'm not really an editor! the full footage is 25 minutes so I had to cut to just the best parts.

I know, it's not very good. I'm just learning!

  • gnarly. It weirds me out that a bird will eat another bird. It's like cannibalism. Poor seagull!

  • at our school we saw an eagle eat a seagull and after we saw some of the seagulls body parts

  • No, they don't! Each of them seem to have a different way of acting, a unique identifiable trait. To most people, all gulls look alike too, but different ones have different patterns, different mannerisms... some people just don't understand that!

Ha! I wish someone would sponsor me! :) I made a DVD of last year's footage and I got 8 people to buy it, but that's about as minimalist you can get with funding! :)

  • Nice capture! But why does it keep dropping out? The scene keeps cutting from one shot to a different version of the same shot...
