@bruiserhzj Well, today it just got a toyota distributor. Now, it had this old delco remy unit from a GM product of some sort in it. I had to beat the distributor out with a 4lb chunk of babbit. Once out, the distributor drive gear has been eaten to almost nothing. thank god the cam looks ok. God, what I wouldn't give for vacuum advance rather than vacuum retard... anything other than $200 i would give for that. :D

@Polybun hahahahaha holy shit mate lol. that's bloody full on!!! well mate let me know how it goes!! hope it goes smoothly for ya.

@bruiserhzj like I said, I found a 2b diesel, which should be a simple bolt in job. This particular 55 spent the first 30 years of it's life on an island off the coast of alaska, and it now has so much you rust, you just have no idea. The seat belt buckles in back have even rotted away! I had to put a roll cage in it just to strengthen up the body.

@Polybun yeah i know what you mean mate...it's opening up a can of worms when you start modifying stuff like that. Best thing would be to find a diesel...maybe import one??? it might cost a little more but in the end you will have a truck that will last forever. then you have the problem of parts availability....not that you'll need many lol. but still. do some homework over there and find out what's available and if it's cost effective i guess.

@bruiserhzj Finding them here in the states is a massive chore. Putting someone elses diesel in isn't any better, because then that means the gearbox and transfer case have to go, weld in new motor mounts, etc. Usually destroys the balance while your at it. I've found a 2B diesel, cheap, and low hours. but 90 hp... and will probably end up needing a gear swap to still be able to do high way speeds. I don't know.

@Polybun yes mate that engine was shit....i was talking about diesel landcruisers. Landcruisers weren't designed for petrol engines but toyota had to deliver a package to people who wanted the petrol...see...they made you buy diesel. But diesel is what you want anyway. Mine has a 1HZ engine 4.2L straight 6...and mate it doesn't flinch at anything!!! I have rarely seen problems with toyota diesels including oil and coolant leaks etc. Only things we can trust down here mate.

@bruiserhzj Well you say that, but that F engine design is crap. I've seen tractor engines that breathe better, and it's certainly nothing compared to a chrysler slant 6 for volumetric effiency or toughness, or power. Then there is the matter of that stupid vacuum retard distributor, all chryslers had vacuum advance, and nearly 20 degrees of it at that! The only part of a land cruiser that impresses me are the axles. Everything else could have been done better.
very good video. know how much work it ist to create that. GOOD JOB!
