Thanks for the excellent review.Neat example, of a "play the man" tactic I've used to good effect myself, thought not something I am very proud of. Only just learned of Somon death, in the most regrettable circumstances. He was a really decent guy even though the only time we met he beat me.

With merely one exception, every chess player I know who has read this book shares my opinion that it is one of the most useful and entertaining pieces of chess literature ever written. Nice to see this fair review of it. The example from your own practice seems to be a perfect case of Webbian thinking.

Great book. In my top ten.
-
while i do have a little trouble, i am pretty used to it...

that being said, i am certain it is a big weakness in my ability to compete in any competition whether it be chess, poker, tennis, ping pong or golf
really interesting story at the beginning, People like him who have gone into complete "tilt" really put me off, i just don't like people who are pissed off about anything having anything to do with me

I understand where you are coming from and that kind of thing used to bother me too. What I would say is that at a certain point I made the mental and emotional leap that someone else's bad behaviour is their issue, not mine and that from a sporting sense, it gives me an extra advantage. Don't get dragged down by the little people!

Your videos are great, but I have alittle trouble with the audio level. I have to turn my speakers fullblast to be able to comfortable hear what your saying.

on my laptop, which has tinny speakers, I can hear the audio ok. I know it was a problem on the British Championships Finale video, but I thought that was a one off. Is anyone else still having this problem?

I will remember this book for future reference but have only just started playing again since I was a kid and am considering Silman's Reassess your chess. It would be interesting to hear what you think about that v other similar books. Hope you keep these excellent video's coming.

I am afraid I am not familiar with Silman's book. Could you give me an indication of how strong you were before? Drop me a mail if you like.
