  • We will have to wait anothe 50-100 years before another Brian Lara is born and graces cricket - best batsman in the history of the game.

Highest score of 501* in first class cricket and 400* in test cricket - END OF STORY, my friends!

(Proud Indian here, BTW, who loves Tendulkar, but facts are facts - can't argue with the truth.)

  • Brian Lara, one of the best players to play the great game that we call cricket. he is simply amazing. one of the best timers of the ball ever. not only did he break the highest score in test history once, but he did it twice. That is a feat that will never be beaten in cricket.

All this talk about comparing him to other batsman is rubbish. He's one of the greatest batsman ever, thats all there is to it.

  • Honestly... if i ever see a better innings it will be under the influence of some incredible drug in a nursing home. Lara tore apart a fabulous bowling attack for 277 freakin runs. Shock and awe for the Aussies alright.... "no need to run for that"... you can say that again.

  • best since bradman

  • Lara is one of the greatest batsman of this era, but i dont think cricket should just be about beating high scores or having high averages. But about consistent technique, style, presence, timing, footwork and sportsmanship. Lara is included in that list of people but for me Tendulkar is more situated with a better technique, footwork, timing, style and sportsmanship than lara but lara has more power and scores behind him

  • @pistachioguy lol. what facts are you talking about? it may be your personal opinion- thats fine.

some facts- 90's is considered more difficult for batting as the ptches were more suited for p[ace bowling.also under recognised fact is sub continent pitches were more suite for spin. tenulkar average highest in 90's decade. 58. lara 47.

  • lara is hungry for runs. He will play against a team of 12 year girls, bat full 5 days and score 2000 runs. The girls turn to bat will never come and he will make the little girls run all days.will make the record for highest score in a 12 year girl team vs big internationalprofessional team. Lol

  • lara is the second best african batsman.

  • tony cozier and kanhai thinks this is lara best innings. Lara also said this is his best hundred. He named his daughter after the ground. Genius innings. Also my fav of lara.

  • @warro lara always played against 13 players???are you nuts? check his record who got more wrong decisions??such a record exists?

and tendulkar did not got it easy remember guys like dravid and ganguly came in the late 90's and ganguly was a pretty mediocre batsman outside india although he was probably the best modern batsman against spin. and india never had a decent bowler. lara had the cushion of ambrose, walsh bishop till around 2000. and west indis too had decent batsman like chander, hooper

  • people!!!!! don't fight over who's better.....lara or sachin???? sachin was always more consistent than lara even though lara scored big centuries...... but sachin was never able to finish off matches which lara did.....so....both had their strengths and limitations....and both are great batsmen.......
