the trick to this is to pick them up and throw them back towards the pen as u go, so they run away from u towards the pen. so grab every one and toss it on ur way to the farthest one out, and do the same thing on the way back. then by time u get back to the pen u have 5 chickens right around the area and u toss em in one by one
