Boss finished its first of three missions at about 10:50 a.m., returning
to the starting chute in the grandstand area. Team members loaded the
electronic instructions for the next mission into Boss's computer. But
then Boss just sat for awhile, finally launching at 11:03 a.m. Other teams
have been turning around the missions in as little as five minutes, so the
wait was unnerving. But the launch decision is made by DARPA officials, so
the time spent waiting won't count against the robot's elapsed time.
