  • I have noticed that there are two classic actresses who are extremely hot and passionate in love scenes. One was Ann Sheridan, the other was Ida.Notice how she just about melts Humphrey Bogart in "High Sierra," and practically anihilates Robert Ryan at the end of "On Dangerous Ground." Wonder how many retakes she asked for... and how many the guys asked for, as they all seemed to having a perfectly wonderful time. :-)

  • I first saw this movie in 1956 on Million Dollar Theater while spending the night with my 89 year old grandfather--he had a metal Firestone TV with rabbit ears. The final chase through the woods scared me to death, but it was fun and I always wanted to see it again. It was almost 30 years before it was shown on TV again.

P.S. Ann Sheridan was wonderful. But I've sometimes wondered if the movie could have lasted more than 20 minutes if Barbara Stanwyck had been pitched against Richard Widmark.

    Short subject, indeed.

Nicely said. And don't forget that Ida Lupino was a serious director, too.

She and Widmark needed more scenes together in this film, even if the ending was the same.

  • @acfinney Yes, those memories are priceless! I think the movie is out on DVD now, too.

  • @VictrolaJazz Funny how we remember those obscure -everyday moments. I have fond memories of my Grandfather watching Eldorado with the Duke. It still gives me a warm feeling watching it, but I still miss the carefree days of youth.

  • Road House seems to pair Richard Widmark with his male opposite, Cornel Wilde, the way Kiss of Death paired him with Victor Mature.

  • really, these are great renditions of two great torch type songs and from IDA

  • Damn she's hot. Can't keep my eyes off her.

  • Ya no se hacen películas así *****

  • Actually she referred to herself as the poor man's Bette Davis...not Joan Crawford...however...poppycock! Ida was every bit as forceful and hypnotic when given the chance, aside from that a hotter babe than either B.D. or J.C.
