Pretty little birds taking cute little baths in the Zoo's McNeil Avian Center. First, a red crested cardinal. Then a golden breasted starling.

Notice the nice, clean water, too!

  • Several years ago, I can remember seeing Brazilian cardinals in petshops. Back then they were all wild caught and not exactly the best choice for a bird cage. In an aviary, however, they can thrive and since almost all zoo birds (and other animals) are captive bred, they do especially well.

  • This one certainly seems to be thriving. It is so energetic and active, and it has such a cute little plump body.
