Dr. James E. Dowd talks about the restorative powers of Vitamin D. Much talk about Vitamin D's restorative powers have been going on for the past year. It is said many people do not have adequate Vitamin D in their bodies to realize the benefits. It is suggested that we need to take more Vitamin D, plus some other supplements to help the Vit. D get into our systems better, or get more adequate exposure to sunlight, which will cause our bodies to make its own Vitamin D, in large quantities. Winter time Vitamin D supplementation is essential when we don't get enough sunlight.

  • I have bought vitamin d "pearls" in the country I live in that say they are 200mg per per. How many of those a day could a person take to be therapeutic? How much is too much?

  • @RefuseForced2Link I personally take 7000 units per day, and have been taking at this level for about 1 1/2 years, and a cold has not even tried to get me (no sore throats, sniffles, etc). Before that I was taking 5000 units per day, and a cold would try to get me with at sore throat, once in a while, so that's why I decided to up my dosage to 7000 units per day. I had a tooth pulled, during this period of taking 7000 units per day.

  • @RefuseForced2Link So I increased my daily dosage to 20,000 units, and the gum healed quickly (within a week), and then I dropped my dosage back to 7000 units per day. I really do believe this level dosage is helping to boost my immune system. I have also seen where a person should not take over 10,000 units per day over a very long period of time. So when I do up my dosage to 20,000 units per day, I don't leave it there for more than a week or two at the most.

  • @combesinc From my own experience I KNOW it has boosted my immune system. I am taking 7000 units per day now, and have been for about a year. I have not had one cold even try to get me since then!! I didn't take any flu shots this past winter either, plus I am 71!

  • @1995a1995z this is true. i just started taking fish oil with vitamin d and it worked a miracle on my back. but i didn't take it orally...yet. but i think im just gonna start taking vitamin d straight up orally.

  • @BCCButters711 How do you mean "anxious" when taking the higher doses - I mean how did it manifest in you? You are right, if you are out in the sun a lot (I am not), then you don't need to take the higher doses, except in the coldest part of the winter, when most people are not out in the sun much.

  • @BCCButters711 What dosage did you take, and for how long, before you saw a difference? I take 7000 units/day, and I haven't had a cold or the flu since, and neither has even tried to come on me (like no sore throats or sniffles)! I have been taking this dosage since last summer. Before that I was taking 5000 units/day, and once in a while I would get a sore throat - then I would increase the dosage to 20,000 units/day, and it would disappear in two to three days, and the cold wouldn't develop.

  • @2012Wordsmith No it is not rocket fuel for your physical strength, but it IS rocket fuel for your immune system!

  • Ive not been active for 20 years so I hope Vit D means Rocket Fuel for the body..

  • Yes, watch UCSD Health Series lectures and you'll find that autoimmune diseases are also affected and are helped with increased levels based on their 40 plus years of research at itshrunk.com/health-series and automated4health
