Cho Ramaswamy - Journalist, Editor - Thuglak, Advocate, Cine Actor etc.... shares his views on the religion through the TV serial - Engey Brahmanan meaning, where is Brahmanan. ? In the TV serial, in between there comes a tit bits, where the dialogue has been shared by the TV serial director and Cho..
just amazing ... what a depth in the culture. I am ashamed my knowledge of Hinduism is so limited. Brahmins are the eternal do-gooders of the world. My respect for them has increased manifold. God bless you Cho.

தெய்வம் இருக்கின்றது என்பது ஒத்துக்கொள்கிறேன் ஆனால் பிராமணர்களின் பொய்யான சடங்குகளை ஒத்துக்கொள்ள முடியவில்லை.

In the final analysis the real Vedic varna system means the same as what science would have us to follow - each according to his inborn aptitudes and choosing his occupation in line with that. Somewhere in this series, Mr Cho says that as such, the Vedas did NOT mean any hereditary system, but some authorities do not accept that definition, etc. NO ADDITIONAL HARM WILL RESULT IF THEIR OBJECTIONS ARE NOT HEEDED.

>> These communities are now under the weight of pressures due to universal materialistic aspirations of a job or business or profession, and in this evolving scheme, there is no scope for genuine spirituality. Which is not detrimental to those who lived under a degenerate form of Vedic society for centuries. In fact, this is true, since people all over the world are having the single objective of monetary pursuit -- a sitution like a chair with a one leg, unstable and unduly stressed.

>> That said, the only advantage of the pseudo-Varna system which we have in place today is that the four communities (and sub ones within them) enjoy some kind of what may be called cultural commonalities, and some kind of distinct identity which remained useful for purposes like scouting for marriage partner, rules of behavior in family and society, etc. These communities have lost the hereditary advantages whatever they may have had legally. Hence there is no ground for communal animosities.

>> Hence heredity to decide uniformly the same gunas and karmas for all family members, is unnatural and impossible except as a remote possibility in exceptions, and could not have been the intention of God who built in the Varna diversity among humans. But this change came about possibly due to convenience/ expediency of training, that is, merchant father trains siblings in his own line, etc. This is not the most efficient for productivity. But can we go back to original varnas system?!!!!

>> Communal system meant a hereditary system is against the Vedas and can in priniple become unjust, for example - since a 'Brahmin' family can haveone sibling mercantile, another with passion for military service, another for ploughing the land, and no one having any real 'taste' for spiritual pursuit (of studying inner self and cosmic havif, and realising both are same). DNAs of hundreds of ancestors operate to decide those of a person in a family.
