This Minuteman III video chronicles the Follow-on Test and Evaluation of a Minuteman III missile. It tells the story of what was perhaps the most photogenic missile launch in Vandenberg AFB history by focusing on the task force that prepared and conducted the launch. The story unfolds to include the science, history and geography of a 6000 nautical mile, 28 minute journey across the Western Test Range from Central California to the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Take particular note of the skills of the helicopter-based videographer: at 2 seconds after lauch the missile is moving at 3 times the speed of sound -- yet is perfectly captured going through a hole in the clouds.

  • exo-atmosphere image....satellite camera.

Thanks for enjoying the show/supporting our efforts island monster. Toxins actually most present at launch site (VAFB) in California -- with solid fuel burn. No radiation at impact site. Metallic/compositional materials from ReEntry Vehicle impact consistently and completely collected.

  • @chillaxer1993 The Russians built higher yield missiles due to the fact that they did not have the accuracy down. A little secret for you, our Poseiden SSBN's only had 4 missiles that were actually targeted. The others were live, but not set up to hit anything. The idea was that once a sub launches it could be heard some 200 miles away. Russian boats would destroy it before it got more than 4 off. My brother was on a boomer from 1983-2004.

  • Love the tunes! This is declassified right? :P

  • @JDubs878 id much rather spend my money on this rather than those programs, at least we can be protected on top of that we actually might get off of our asses and provide for ourselves rather than be provided for by our big brother aka obama and the government

  • i played there in 99

  • @chillaxer The number of MIRVs are not as important as the type of payload they carry and the accuracy. We could deliver around 2000+ warheads to Russia or China. That is more than enough to destroy either nation. Russia can pay us back equally and China has enough to cripple us. No reason to have 10 MIRVs when 3x500 not including bombers and subs is more than enough. Average yield 220 kilotons. Hiroshima was 12 kilotons. That's 660 kilotons per missile.

  • INDIA JUST AWAITING FOR FIRST ICBM WITH OWN CRYOGENIC ROCKET IN DECEMBER 2011!

INDIA ALL READY SUCCEED TO MADE WORLD MOST HIGH-LY ACCURATE MISSILE !

  • jeeze that's accurate. too bad we can't use our heads for something good like exploring space instead, I been practising yoga so I can kiss my own ass goodbye when missiles start flying. unless I'm lucky my area will definitely be targeted, probably ground burst just to make it bad for survivors :(

  • @Flying1Mike just as long as the yard glass isn't tipped before the launch...lol...

  • @TehranTimmy Its called a plane. You know those things that you see in the sky that magically transport people long distances in a short amount of time? We've had them since 1903.

  • lmfao

i wonder if this song ia going to be playing in 2012 when these are flying over our heads from country to country >:O
