A comparative shake table testing of a regular
building model (left) and the same model on
Earthquake Protective Foundation or EPF (right). EPF paved the way to a new and extremely effective line of seismic base isolation called Earthquake Protector (see, e.g., http://www.ecs.csun.edu/~shustov/EP-2006.htm ).

For virtual re-creation of this testing, use EPETO or Earthquake Performance Evaluation Tool Online at http://www.seismicevaluation.org.

  • There are no ball bearings there, sorry!

  • The model buildings were made of a steel wire frames covered with a duct tape. For the floor and roof diaphragms there the wooden plates were used. No construction video, sorry!

  • It was a base isolation technology called Earthquake protector, that simple.

  • Try to do it better!

  • Ball bearings. That is all.

  • how did you build the buildings? Can you make a video that teaches how to build these towers?

  • What did you use to make the right house isolated and not shake?
