KATC-TV: Marijuana mailed to Louisiana Car Wash from El Paso Address

Lafayette Metro Narcotics officers are still trying to figure out how a package of illegal drugs ended up at a Lafayette car wash. Police say the box contained six pounds of marijuana, a street value of roughly $10,000, and was shipped through the U.S. Postal Service.

Todd LeMaire, the owner of Todd's Car Wash, said he has no idea who sent the package, or why they chose his business. Several tightly packed bricks of marijuana had somehow made it all the way from El Paso, TX, to his car wash off Johnston Street.

"I kind of found it strange that it would even get past the mail man," said LeMaire.

Not only did the label have the address of the car wash, but it had the name of the car wash as well. And that means who ever sent the package knew exactly what they were doing.

"How would they even think to ship it here? At first I thought maybe they had the wrong address. But I looked, everything was just too perfect. Somebody did a lot of work to get that shipped and it got through the system," said LeMaire.

The package even had a return address with a name, but LeMaire said neither he nor any of his employees know who the sender is, or who it was meant for.

"I am shook up. I mean you know I was kind of afraid, I didn't know if someone was going to be walking in to get it," he said.

Lafayette Metro Narcotics told KATC they couldn't officially comment yet, because they're still trying to figure out who sent the drugs. However, officers did tell LeMaire they are working with authorities in El Paso and the U.S. Postal Service to solve this case.
