@syeve6712 It's because they were in a middle of a break up.

Complete mediocrity. Well fucking said Malkmus <3

@syeve6712 Hey, that's just how pavement's sound evolved. They developed into a much more polished sound as the band progressed. If you go back & listen to slanted & enchanted and listen to almost anything afterward, It's quite a bit different. In fact you can hear a progression on that album. Also, if you listen to the album version of time warp by BTS & live version, they are also nearly the same. The only difference I can tell is a bit of guitar distortion & extra vocals.

no offense to Pavement, i love the band, but this doesn't sound that distinct from the album version. imo, i think Built to Spill did a better performance on HBO's Reverb

Blind date with the chancer
we had oysters and dry lancers
and the check when it arrived we went dutch, dutch, dutch, dutch
a redder shade of neck on a whiter shade of trash
And this emory board is giving me a rash
I'm flat out
You're so beautiful to look at when you cry
Freeze, don't move
You've been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation
of the sequel to your life.

@thebluescreenofdeath I'm pretty sure he was referencing the fact that the song was halfway done. That comment split the song in half. He's smart, but he's not a prick. He's no Billy Corgan.

Steven Malkmus is the coolest human being alive!!!
