I was recently asked about how to use Compass in an existing CodeIgniter project. It seems that the emailer was under the impression that Compass was made for Ruby and Rails. But that's not the case at all!

  • Hooray for Vim!

  • Thanks for the tutorial. What was the software you where using to get a terminal as an overlay on the screen?

  • Ruby is the language the runs rubygems (and thus compass). Windows doesn't have it installed by default, so you'll have to install Ruby first yourself.

  • hey jeffery,

    this tool is very useful.

the main problem is i use windows 7. im not gonna change to mac... any suggestions?

  • @Imaginationac Oh I didnt know that thanks a lot

  • Make sure your comments are written in the multi-line style. If your output is in compressed mode and you want comments, the first character of the comment needs to be an exclamation point. See the Sass language reference for full details.

  • It'd be nice if you could make a tutorial in how to implement Compass in Wordpress, I managed to get the config files right but every time compass "compiles" the new stylesheet it removes the mandatory comments on top of the style.css file :(
