Somewhere in the middle of the wine dark sea........an aircraft carrier crashes through one hundred foot seas. This is a tribute to the men and women of the United States Navy.

  • Anchors Aweigh is perfect for this video. Being at sea in heavy weather like this, is a part of Navy service most people never see. Go USN, Go NAVY Football 2011.

  • @C17Inspector Its a great tune and it pretty much matches the cadence of the wipers and the crashing seas. Two turns of the tune matched the length of the video perfectly. I lucked out there. I'm glad you enjoy it.

  • Thanks for the video. I've been there many times, only on a frigate. USN, baby!

  • @ShotDownInFlames2 My pleasure. I'm glad you enjoy it.

  • @bobobread or half a Destroyer - FFG Frigate.....

  • @Flagman00 That ain't shit... Riding a 80,000 ton carrier..... max 5 degree roll...... Yawn...

Try going through that on a 4,500 ton single screw FFG frigate, thats a "God Damn Adventure"!

  • is that an f-18?

  • I feel for who ever had to clean the helo at the top of the bow. Sea water is murder to aircraft and that bird just got a heavy downpour of it...

  • thats badass :O. (future navy here)

  • Geez! I didn't realize the big carriers could pitch that much. I thought they were too huge to be so drastically affected by the waves. (Obviously I spend NO time near the ocean).

I wonder what it's like, trying to conduct flight ops in that weather, or if it's even possible. (I mean, I assume there's gotta be some sort of flight readiness in case of war, but I can see one of those waves smothering the engines of a plane as it cats through).

  • i have seen this as i was in a typhoon on board the uss yorktown cvs 10 during vietnam.

  • @Flagman00 Definetly!

  • @legojoe12345 If you think that is cool. imagine being inside while that is going on. Now that will put hair on your ass!

  • The four jerks who didn't like the video must have been those Army pukes losing their lunches in the berthing compartment! :-)
