There was a recorded version played on set and the actors sang along to that. So a bit of both ended up in the final score.

Hey there, Do you know if there is an actual choir singing this on the movie, or was it the guys on the set. I have never heard this song sung so beautifully!

As far as I know it is the actors doing the singing - the country choir - certainly James Murray is able to sing, and the song is simple enough for any competent singer to attempt. There is little information about the music side of this movie, but I'll look into it.
