The swastika was initially the Buddhist symbol for peace, Hitler took the symbol and twisted it's meaning. Next time you go down to china town take a close look at all the Buddhist stuff an you'll see a ton of swastikas. Generally however the Buddhist Swastika symbol of peace rests on its side (like a square), whereas the Nazi Swastika of craziness rests on a corner (like a diamond).
