This was nearly 4am. We were rang at home at nearly midnight by a doctor telling us he'd got results back from One of izaac's blood tests and he wanted us to bring him in immediatley.
We havn't got a car. I'd given birth about 5 days ago and had a 2 1/2 year old in bed upstairs! we were going to take him in at 5.30 next morning but the doc insisted it had to be that night so they could take more blood tests and send them off to the blood specialists hospital by 6 the next morning.
He also said Izaac could bleed out, fit and die at any given moment so the best place for him was the hospital.
(bare in mind they had no clue what was wrong with him at this point-and i don't think they ever really did) he was behaving fine. feeding, sleeping and interacting like a normal healthy baby. I found it hard to believe there was anything really wrong as i was told so many different things by various health officials.
I went with my mum at about 10 to midnight. Jan stayed home woth our eldest son so at least Huey would have his daddy there when he woke up and jan could bring him up to the hospital to see us the next morning.
when we got there they spent an hour squeexing blood from izaac. They kept collapsing veins. they tried both hands twice, both wrists, feeet, ankles, arms behing the knees. in the end they were trying to go in his neck and scalp. (even though they had taken blood from him only hours earlier). it was so distressing. Then they didnt even send the blood off until 5pm the NEXT DAY!!!! so it was pointless us being there at all!! then it turned out the cocked the sample up and had to do it all over again!
by this point they had used up all the points they could get bloof from and had to stick a cannula in his tiny hand as a sort of 'tap' for his vein.
then i cornered one doctor and begged for somebody to tell me what was going on, what they were looking for, and what they knew. (Yes that's right folks, still nobody had told me anything!!!) She eventually admitted to me that they didn't even know and that there could actually be nothing wrong and that for all they knew ALL baby's blood is like this when they are first born but because no one takes blood tests from babies when they are born, it often goes undiscovered.....GREAT!
Gosh!Isnt That Bad For A Baby To Lose Much Blood?Well I Hope hhe Is OKay Now And Goodluck Taking Care Of Him (Sorry I Watched This In 2011)
