One of the strangiest films that I've ever seen.
The room of laughter is the system of curve mirrors ugly deforming human features. We laugh, seeing the reflection, not noticing that the ugliness becomes our essence.
Similar to Svankmajer's art.
Directed by Nina Shorina, 1991.

  • Wow. You know, the impression I get is that it's showing the inner world of a crazy homeless person on the street who watches and laughs at the people walking past.

  • I studied Nina Shorina in college for a brief period, and we watched this one as part of it. I remembered it as being disturbing, but I'd forgotten just how disturbing it really is. Truly the stuff of nightmares: great work by Nina of capturing that horror.
