epic timing for the name to be centered when was viewed from the bottom

@HeadShot360IN Thanks. It did take some effort to get it centered at just the right moment when the gears reversed direction. Nice to see someone noticed.

Gears To Mind Heist = Epic.

@bryceguy72 because it is assumed that the driving force to move the Sun and Planet gears is coming from the fact that the Ring gear is being driven from the outside. However when the Ring gear is stationary, everything contained inside should remain stationary as well, unless there is another outside force. Unless you have the planetary carrier, which isn't shown, attached to a fixed point, and thus when rotating the complete assembly cause a different form of planetary motion.

@bryceguy72 hi man, you are right. It is obviously possible to a fix annulus gear and still have the planet and sun gears rotate inside. I saw it as an error here because in this animation you have no carrier connected to an externally driven shaft and sun gear, to make it physically possible for these gears to move. Watch the vid again and you'll see. cheers :)

wow, very nice.. can we get a tutorial?

i really like this, weve just recently done cogs and wire parameters in university, but one thing they didnt teach us is how to do inverted cogs like the silver inside the red, how did you calculate the ratio?
there is a small error here, when the annulus gear is fixed & stationary, the sun and planet gears inside should also remain fixed and stationary, however in this animation they somehow magically move LOL

@BeyondSkys09 Hey thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure I understand... why can't the sun and planetary gears move inside the fixed and stationary annulus gear? There are four types of motion when it comes to planetary gears... I made an animation to show: watch?v=oXT2hn7juFE You can see that from 0:07 to 0:12 of that animation, the annulus gear is fixed and stationary but the other gears move inside it. Why do you consider this an error?

Can you give a tutorial on how to draw helical gear?????
frilink 1 year ago
@frilink No sorry, I cannot make video tutorials. Here's the text version: Create Ring-Wave primitive that looks like a gear (you'll have to play with the settings a bit). Then extrude this Ring-Wave primitive and give it about 20 sections. Then use the TWIST tool from the modifier menu to rotate the extruded shape by 20 or 30 degrees along the extrusion axis. Drag off a copy using the SHIFT key and you'll have two helical gears that mesh together perfectly.

This is so cool.
How do you do this? do you use rigid body stuffs like that?
vivoslibertos 1 year ago
@vivoslibertos Nope. As I mentioned in the video description, I used "wire parameters" and manually-created keyframes.
