Confused by organic food labeling? Author and organic food expert Anna Lappe explains what the terminology means.

Organic Food Labeling: How To Tell If Packaged Food Is Organic

Sometimes it's hard to distinguish organic food by its packaging. Fresh produce is easier...it either is or isn't organically grown. But packaged foods are trickier. Here's what you need to know about organic food labels:

* Look for the USDA certified organic seal. This means at least 95% of the ingredients are organic.

* If you see a label that says 70% organic, that means that 70% of the ingredients are organic.

* If the product has less than 70% organic ingredients, it can't feature an organic label, so you have to read the ingredients on the package. Don't be fooled by products that you think are organic because their names or packaging look like they are.

  • Oh, I like your logic. Since there's so many things that can kill us, lets just bombard ourselves with all of them, and then better yet lets put it in our food, and lets feed the cows we're gonna eat genetically modified grain, and pump them with hormones, and kill all the benificial bacteria in our milk, and spray all our vegetables with round up, lets not stop there! Lets dump fluoride in our water and hooorraay, we're all gonna die anyways, might as well be coughing up blood.

  • Oh, and Todays GLOBAL lifespan is in NO WAY reflective of all the fucked up things we've put into effect in the past 20 years LIKE cellphones, Genetically modified foods, BUt the rate of Cancer is now 1 in 3 for a lifetime. Oh that can't have anything to do with the pesticides on our food or leaching in our water?? Or the high ass rate of autism?? Or the lowering of the populations IQ? OR that 33% of North Americas bees are gone? Genetically modified plants make Genetically modified pollen.

  • That ORGANIC SEAL is BS. USDA = Made in China, I swear they knock that logo off now like everything else. Dont belive the hype.

  • @CollegeLoheart FYI saturated fats aren't really as horrible as the media describes them. In fact, studies at Harvard convey that consuming an excess amount of fat is not correlated AT ALL to heart disease! I am mostly vegetarian, except I occasionally eat grass-fed beef and organic free-range chicken. I usually get saturated fat from coconut oil. Also, raw milk and unpasteurized milk is healthy, however I drink almond milk and rice milk, because raw milk is extremely expensive!

  • Bull, pure and simple bull dung. How can canola be organic? It is a ge rapeseed. What about all the stuff Whole Foods got caust seeling with the organic label that came from china.

This is what happens when you are so deeply in debt to one master. China owns our govt because our govt needs to be a monica lewisnsky to china to keep them loaning money to us.

Whole Foods god is money we need to hit them where it hurts, in their bottom line. BOYCOTT folks, BOYCOTT!

  • @hopesolofan18

Well yeah. It has 0 trans fats, saturated fats, 90 mg sodium, etc. I heard skim milk has good fats like monom and ploy ?

  • @CollegeLoheart fat free doent matter. the fat of RAW milk is very healthy and your body needs it in moderation to function well. not all fats are the same. I dont know what tuscan is. But if it raw then its healthier and much easier to digest.

  • @hopesolofan18

Okay, there is "Pasturized" milk in my supermarket. The ones that are not pasturized are still safe to drink right because I only drink fat free milk from Tuscan brand ?

  • @guitarlovenjc i use baking soda and essential lemon oil gently once a day at night. brush with water in the morning. it works good

  • @CollegeLoheart yeah. if you can, its good to get meat and dairy that has been "grassfed" and "pastured" that means the animals live outdoors and eat what they are meant to eat so therefor theyre healthier to eat

  • @hopesolofan18 So, what do you use to brush your teeth? Non-fluoride toothpaste?
