@SWE370 I'm sure he did think about his family. But to keep on living while suffering isn't the better option necessarily. Everyone who chooses this has their own reasons, but maybe he was a burden to take care of. Maybe he was experiencing uncontrollable pain/suffering. Your comment made this topic seem black and white. Assisted suicide is NOT necessarily selfish. And of course the family would be sad. But that is only one of many factors that should be taken into account.
