    Depends on the type of school; I studied English for 8 years. We started in grade 5 but I think they're doing some basic English understanding at Primary School. So yes, most Germans (at least at my age) speak English.

    I was stationed in Germany, Weisbaden in fact, and yes, English is a compulsory second language in their grade schools. So most Germans have at least an understanding of English. I don't know how many years they are required to study English.

    I searched several years to find this on video. The whole concert is on a video called "Perfect Square". It is incredible.
