What google analytics gather are personal user stuff that the user is doing on that site, those are not relevant to the site's actual ranking so it's no wonder google doesn't use that data.
Also, if google were to use that data... wouldn't there be a big hole in the site ranking systems of those who use versus those who don't use ? Because google can't collect any data if the script it's not in the site and a user isn't actualyl running that script... basically: unreliable.

So, if a company has large number of visitors that get to a site via means other than search engines (e.g., a link form another site, references in Tweets, RSS Feeds, etc.) then Google and other search engines are not aware of this kind of traffic? Is that correct? If so, is it also the case that Alexa and other traffic ranking groups are not aware of this non-search traffic?

I will have our body language expert go over this later today, but my instinct tell me Cutts is not being forthcoming here. For one thing, creating a video segment to address something like this implies Google fears the other alternative being found out. More later

Is page rank really that important to webmasters. It seems like it is a big deal for them.

The rumors won't stop about using analytics in [insert whatever you want]. I've seen so many discussions about that, and google always denies it.
