Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) co-chief Sanjay Jha said the company will try to launch a tablet by the beginning of next year, reports PCMag.com Thursday.
"I will only develop a tablet if it is sufficiently compelling," Jha said. "Hopefully, that is early next year. I see the tablet market as an opportunity; no cannibalization with smartphones."
Motorola debuted a tablet prototype at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show, equipped with a 7-inch screen, 32 GB of external memory and runs on Google Inc.'s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android OS.
Jha also said the Motorola is "eager to participate" in Internet TV, like Google TV and Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Apple TV, which received a facelift earlier this year.
SmarTrend is bullish on shares of Motorola and our subscribers were alerted to buy on April 12, 2010 at $7.42.
The stock has risen 12.6% since the alert was issued.
