@smartlamppost Well, they weren't all gay per se, but homosexuality was an accepted practice among the Spartan military. In fact, while their husbands were in military service, women who wanted conjugal visits were required to shave their heads and disguise themselves as men so as not to weaken their commitment to the team with "womanly" affections. (Or so I've heard. If I'm remembering some facet wrong, forgive me)
