I have the Pelikan M1005 Demonstrator, fattest nib ever, also cool reminds me of a doctor's needle.

The M1000 is a far better pen than the Montblanc....the M800, though...I wouldn't quite say it's "better" than the 149...maybe a close competition....but hell, these are all opinions and subjective judgments lol

Montblanc is a jewelery manufacturer, they make nice pens, however only Pelikan is a pen serious manufacturer. Pelikan is and will be over Montblanc as a serious pen maker for years to come.

thats boring

Showing him how it's done. Like a master/apprentice moment right there.

@Zobeid Haha yes, I was thinking the exact same thing. I've got a Sailor Sapporo and it's one of the smoothest writers I've ever had.

@ogalort Pelikans are awesome. I own several cheap models and the M1000 and M800...they write like dreams. But the one MontBlanc I own writes just as well as my m800. But I think the best writers are from Pilot imho.

No doubt, Pelikan is one the most reliable fountain pens. I own a M1000 Green and a M800 Blue Striated. I also have two Montblanc 146 (Le Grand). But Pelikans are my best writers ever.
There's some irony for you. . . Japanese fountain pens are excellent. Why aren't they signing with Sailor or Pilot (Namiki) pens?

I'm a Pelikan guy, don't get me wrong, but the Montblanc didn't so much fail as run out of ink.
