About 1.4% of Americans end their lives by suicide. This is the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S.
The largest increase in the last 30 years has been among people between 15-24 years old.
At least 11% of high school students have made at least one suicide attempt.
Between 70% and 90% of suicide attempts are by medicine/drug overdoses, roughly 15% by wrist cuts.
