Last week, I spoke to you about my commitment to work with Congress to pass health care reform this year. Today, I’d like to speak about how that effort is essential to restoring fiscal responsibility.

When it comes to the cost of health care, this much is clear: the status quo is unsustainable for families, businesses, and government. America spends nearly 50 percent more per person on health care than any other country. Health care premiums have doubled over the last decade, deductibles and out-of-pocket costs have skyrocketed, and many with preexisting conditions are denied coverage. More and more, Americans are being priced out of the care they need.

These costs are also hurting business, as some big businesses are at a competitive disadvantage with their foreign counterparts, and some small businesses are forced to cut benefits, drop coverage, or even lay off workers. Meanwhile, Medicare and Medicaid pose one of the greatest threats to our federal deficit, and could leave our children with a mountain of debt that they cannot pay.

  • THE current bill is not the answer ,,,does not address proper Tort Reform, "undocumented" access for expensive non-life threatening HC , & does not provide MOST IMPORTANTLY an OPT OUT Provision for those that believe it is still too bloated with waste & inefficiencies resulting in inflated premiums not in keeping with services provided.

....A mandate stuffed inside a trojan horse bill for HC is a skunk in the road...too stupid to debate...

REPEAL the BIll nobody ever wanted

  • Give the American People our credit card back.....& Kill ths 3000 pg HC "TAX & JAIL" Trojan Horse Mandate Bill devoid of any health care..

    Kill the BIll..

    Vote out the freaks.

    nobody wants it..

  • Healthcare Victory

    American Victory

    GOP loses again

  • agree with mr presedint

  • The economy started suffering when the Dems took over congress in 06.

It was they, who ordered banks to give loans to people who could obviously not afford them.

And if you look at the financial groups involved, who greedily went along, there are easily as many Democratic controled ones as Republican leaning ones.

But your "killed by Bush" shows you are about as knowing of the truth as some Freshman with a Socialist professor feeding them crap.

    Naive.

  • This guy who wants to quickly push through the total revamp of health care, is the SAME GUY THAT TOOK 6 MONTHS TO CHOOSE A DOG.

  • This guy doesn't know what he's talking about! He picks numbers out of the air and doesn't even read the legislation he tries to pass. What a shame that this was the best money could buy!!!

  • Obama is all words. His focus groups find out what words people want to hear. He then uses those and creates these stupid speeches.

Obama's healthcare plan stinks. There are good plans out there, but Pelosi/Obama want to experiment with government healthcare--an experiment that could ruin 18% of our economy.

HE LIES. IT WILL COST MORE.

  • yeah well you are an ignorant peasant. thats why you fall for this shit.

  • The country was dead (killed by Bush) before Obama became president. To me, it appears that Obama is tryting to bring it back to life.
