Tour de France commentator Phil Liggett says he's skeptical about the whole Floyd Landis doping scandal. There are anomalies, he says, and the French lab at the centre of the scandal is not "scrupulous".

  • Oh, I did take a pic of Phil at this interview but I'd usually take pix on the move on the Phil and Friends ride and a boring pic of Phil in his waterproof walking jacket just wouldn't be as good so didn't use it on this YouTube montage.

  • As much as I love Phil, he does not get it. Atheletes getting pinched doping is not "bad" for the sport. It is good, because they are catching more and more cheaters and how can anyone deny the Festina affair, the "do anything to win" attitude that has characterized cycling. I salut LAgence française de lutte contre le dopage who busted atheletes who were not busted in the Giro 2008.

  • Anyone who believes a crooked outfit like UCI over the facts is an utter retard. And fuck Armstrong. There's your cheating douche. Complete scum. Money and politics.

  • so what, Floyd Landis won the TDF. Great rider, the other riders can't complain, they are using too. Tests dont mean thing. Way to go Floyd.

  • Floyd can't help having testosterone, he is a real man

  • @Bhousm76 Then cycling is not for you. I suggest you watch other sports like football or baseball or hockey that has regular cheating except no one gets caught. Cycling is one of the only professional sports that takes cheating seriously, hence the frequent doping charges. This is why, in my eyes cycling is so credible. Thanks to stringent doping control, I think we can safely say Andy Schlek won the TDF 2010! Your stigma is my mark of authenticity! And testing will never be foolproof

I know your comment is old, but since the Festina affair, the numbers in cases per year has been still been rising steadily. Because of all these cases, the stigma caused by cheating in cycling is still growing (in my eyes at least). It would be very nice to know that every rider is clean, hopefully one day, testing for dope will be foolproof.

  • @ayebretwalda

You have no facts, mere allegations. Not a shred of evidence.

  • Phil Ligget did he ever win the tour?

  • Hmmm, I wonder how Phil feels about it now...........

  • phil liggett has hardly defended the man. he was just raising doubts. its not like he's been a moron and said nobody dopes

  • I hate Landis. He's made a much respected cycling man like Liggett and millions of Americans who believed in a European conspiracy look like fools with his lies.

  • Well, this argument is mute considering Landis came clean.
