This video has been produced as a supplement to The Kidney Foundation of Canada's patient manual "Living with Kidney Disease". It is designed to help you and your family learn more about kidney disease and make informed decisions about your treatment. This video looks at how kidneys work and shows the different ways kidney diseases are treated. It allows you to listen to other kidney patients as they describe their own experiences and feelings about the various treatment options. The video also makes you aware of the help and support available from your health care team and The Kidney Foundation of Canada. If you need further information, please contact the branch or chapter of The Kidney Foundation of Canada nearest you, or visit our website at www.kidney.ca

  • My transplant did not work for 7 weeks due to Acute Tubular Necrosis (lack of blood flow to the new kidney). When I was watching at 20:30 reminded me of that. And then how the girl looked was how I looked with the Prednisone after my first transplant. I was not prepared for my puffy face but was glad when that went down as the medication dosage went down.

  • Thank you for this. I shared it with a new patient in Guelph Ontario. I remember when I lost my kidney my hemoglobin went down so far that I could only walk a block & had to accept that Shopper's Drug Mart delivers & even though I was only in my 20's that it was okay & I should not feel bad for relying on that service. At first a lot of people are in denial that they are really that sick until it hits them that hard & they are unable to do what they normally could. After dialysis I felt better

  • You may want to consider updating. This is very dated and it is obvious.
