Boston terriers, Clover and Poncho, discuss handmade pots, and wish everyone a Happy New Year in Japanese with an American accent
TRANSCRIPT BELOW:
CLOVER Wow Poncho, what a great year it was!
PONCHO Yeah Clover. Handmade For Japan and lots of pots, studio sale and Crafted and everything.
CLOVER What I meant that I was born in June.
PONCHO I can see how that was a big deal for you. Being born is huge. But also pottery-wise we tried lots of new things in the studio and the customers are so great and supportive. One even sent me a sweater.
CLOVER My favorite part is when we pack pots to ship because the biodegradable peanuts melt in my mouth.
PONCHO All our great customers even make it worthwhile to be exploited for our cuteness in the videos. Plus they appreciate all the imperfections that are so integral to the handmade process and aesthetic and all the care that goes into each special piece.
CLOVER Talk of handmade bowls make me hungry. Again.
PONCHO Clover, don't your kibbles taste better when you lick a pretty glaze drip? Or notice the poetic way an edge on the lip of a pot thins or widens? Even the kibbles smell better in a handmade bowl. When a pot has a bit of mass or substance, it feels infinitely more functional and stable on the floor when one keeps obsessively licking the bowl clean even after the kibbles are long gone.
CLOVER I wish I got fed glucosamine tablets like you do for your arthritis.
PONCHO You will someday. Someday, you might even be one of the animals on the pottery, like for instance, I'm the rabbit but with shorter ears.
CLOVER Oh. I want to be the hedgehog.
PONCHO Ayumi Horie Pottery sends many thanks to all of you for your support and enthusiasm. May you and yours have a lovely new year filled with health, peace, joy, and wonder!
CLOVER 明けましておめでとうございます。 Akemashite omeditou gozaimasu (trans. Happy New Year)
