@autisticaplanet Same here!

this series is a bit over the top and inaccurate

My son has ASD he's 10 I understand. Find out whats making him have the meltdowns. What happens before the meltdown. Try to avoid whatever it is. But let him know that that not how you handle that situation. Preferably after he's calmed down good after the meltdown. He may not talk but he hears you and understands. Never forget that. My son started says 3 words sentences at like 4 1/2 now I sometimes wont to tell him to shut up lol Keep talking to him. Never believe what he can't do.

In a perfect world.

Just been watching these videos.... My son has ASD, he's only 4 though and he doesn't talk, just repeats random words, so we have no idea how he is actually feeling other then when he has meltdowns. I wish these adverts would be put onto television though because alot of people do not understand and just assume he is being naughty

Oh, of course, the fetal position. God damn I hate infomercials that stereotype.

Have you called an ambulance? HAAAVE YOU CAALLED AN AAAMBULAAANCE?????
LOL

I don't know, why my comment showed up at the top, it was meant as a reply to the commentor, who said: "I disagree, an autistic would have called the ambulance, whereas everyone else would react emotionally"
-
The video doesn't say all autistics react that way, but that autistics can react in ways that can be hard to understand .
;)
In a situation like this, I wouldn't even be able to speak!
Some with Asperger's are fortunate enough to have a job because our I.Q.'s are average or above average. Sensory overload and going into shutdown or meltdown is not synonymous with intelligence.I have Asperger Syndrome and do not share this character's luxary of realitive independence due to auditory hyper-acute sensitivity that has even become phobic. Walk a mile in our shoes...if you dare...if you care.

Asperger Syndrome is a high-functioning form of autism. I should know, I have it.
