Fish Quay at North Shields is known for fish and chips as well as wonderful views looking east towards the Tyne Estuary at Tynemouth. Here I describe a bit about what is happening here and what can be seen.

Two part film.

My channel on you tube : http://www.youtube.com/alanheath is one of the most prolific from Poland. I have produced a number of films, most in English but also in Polish, French, Italian, Spanish and the occasional hint of German and Hebrew. My big interest in life is travel and history but I have also placed films on other subjects

There are a number of films here on the packaging industry. This is because I am the publisher of Central and Eastern European Packaging -- http://www.ceepackaging.com - the international platform for the packaging industry in this region focussing on the latest innovations, trends, design, branding, legislation and environmental issues with in-depth profiles of major industry achievers. Most people may think packaging pretty boring but it possibly effects your life more than you really imagine!

  • What are your mainland European destinations going into 2010 at a glance? Will Scandanavia be on your list?

  • I have not thought much about this yet. I am going to Czech in March. Possibly Russia in January. Germany in Sept and Nov definitely. For the rest I do not know yet!! But I wont be going to Scandinavia!!

    Regards from Nuremburg!!

  • @xman4un Coincidentally I saw this now - greetings from Stockholm, Sweden. Now waiting for the bus to go to Iggesund 230km further north!!

  • if it was half 10 in the morning ..then the filleting factories are closed, because their shift finishes at 10..they start a 5 am..lol..but that was when the fish quay was thriving...sad really..i remember when there was loads of trawlers on the quay, at least 4 deep...all lined up, from the ice factory to the gut..

  • I played (in a band) on a makeshift stage outside The Dolphin many moons ago at the Annual Fishquay Festival, now sadly curtailed. You're right about the bacon! Dry cured wi nee salty watter!

If you're really short of entertainment, the various spelling gaffs on the traders' chalkboards may provide some comic relief.
