The Hisshou™, designed by James Williams, is a specialized tool that is intended for military personnel and special forces operators. James developed this design to meet the specific requests of coalition forces overseas for a more powerful tactical tool than his CRKT Hissatsu™, which is in wide use. Historically, military swords have been sized to fit the fighting environment. Long swords, such as the English broad sword and Japanese katana, could only be used effectively on open fields of battle. Fighting in close or confined quarters required shorter swords, such as the sailor's cutlass and the Japanese wakizashi, which is similar in size to the Hisshou. The Hisshou comes into play when the operator's firearms cannot be used, as often happens in entry and search operations. It is designed for multiple carry options depending on the choice of the operator. The Hisshou's 13" full-tang dual grind Tanto blade is YK-30 high-carbon steel, high satin finished. The long, tapered tip grind is designed for maximum slashing power combined with superior penetration. At 16.4 ounces, the Hisshou also offers superior slashing ability as compared to the Hissatsu. James has followed centuries of Japanese tradition in designing the classic cord-wrapped handle with ray skin underlays, which compares very well to more modern handle materials, giving excellent grip under all conditions.

That is really an old myth. "blood groves" etc. are really just there to lighten the weight of the blade. The old suction thing is urban legend that has ben debunked for decades but still has adherents in the online gaming community. Most custom knife makers have a big laugh when they hear it now and then.

    Hi,

Did the blade come sharp out of the box or did it need sharpening?

Nice blade. I notice the wrap (ito) does not alternate crosses. Have you found it to come loose at all, or is it still good? Thanks for posting, rock on Charlz9mm

Thank you for your kind comments. The ito is wrapped tight and tough. I doubt if you could unravel it unless you made it a project to do so.

For all of you who wonder, the ridges on the back of the blade aren't "blood grooves" , they are called "fullers" and they are meant to keep rigidity while removing some steel thus making the knife lighter but not weaker. They aren't meant to deal with blood or whatever of that sort.

You can cut water bottles with almost any heavy enough chef's knife, much more effectively. What does this test prove in regards to handling and other qualities of the knife?

Optimum length of a fighting knife blade is 5.5", considering of course you are using it in hand combat against a serious adversaries, not civilians, or domestic animals stock.

You truly think a modern soldier in the modern battlefields, taking into account all the equipment, tightness of space, and the modern hand to hand combat technique can use it against another enemy soldier? If yes, your mind stuck somewhere in time of WW1.
