The Empire Theatre in Toowoomba is the largest regional theatre in the nation. Built in 1911, the theatre was razed in a spectacular fire in 1933, rebuilt, and then left to rot in the 1970's. Refurbished in the 1990's, the theatre is now an essential part of the city and a draw card across the region.
Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the Empire is described as "one of the most beautiful theatres in the world," by US rock star Suzi Quatro who was on hand to join in the party.
